HON. ABDUSAKUR βTOTOβ A. TAN II, Provincial Governor of Sulu, serves in a province where peacebuilding, economic development, education, healthcare, and accessible government services remain important priorities.
Media People's Choice Management, together with Sigaw ng Bayan and EuroTV News, acknowledges Governor Tan in connection with its recognition program highlighting provincial governance, community welfare, and public-service accountability.
Governor Tan's administration has participated in efforts to strengthen peace and security while expanding opportunities for communities throughout Sulu's 19 municipalities.
In 2026, the provincial government worked with national agencies to facilitate Sulu's administrative transition to Region IX, or the Zamboanga Peninsula, with particular attention to maintaining essential public services.
Education has been among the priorities discussed during this transition. In June 2026, the national government introduced a community assistance initiative allocating β±200,000 to each of Sulu's 410 barangays, with half of each allocation designated for student scholarships.
The program provides scholarship support for five students per barangay, potentially reaching more than 2,000 learners across the province.
Healthcare development has also received attention through intergovernmental cooperation. In August 2025, Sulu Provincial Hospital inaugurated its first hemodialysis unit, supported by medical equipment and assistance from government institutions.
Agricultural development remains another area of coordination. Governor Tan met with the National Irrigation Administration to discuss irrigation projects intended to improve water access, agricultural productivity, and the livelihoods of local farmers.
Peacebuilding initiatives have likewise included livelihood assistance for individuals participating in government reintegration programs.
Through cooperation between the Department of the Interior and Local Government and provincial authorities, 69 program beneficiaries received β±50,000 each in livelihood assistance during 2026.
In September 2026, the provincial government formally declared Sulu under a Stable Internal Peace and Security condition, following assessments by military, police, and other government agencies.
The declaration represented an important development in the province's ongoing security and peacebuilding efforts, although maintaining long-term stability remains a continuing responsibility.
Infrastructure development, educational opportunities, healthcare accessibility, agricultural support, and economic participation continue to form part of Sulu's development discussions.
Media People's Choice highlights the importance of assessing provincial governance through documented initiatives, cooperation among government institutions, and accountability to the communities being served.
Media People's Choice Management, together with Sigaw ng Bayan and EuroTV News, extends its congratulations and recognition to HON. ABDUSAKUR βTOTOβ A. TAN II for his public-service responsibilities and his administration's participation in initiatives concerning peacebuilding, education, healthcare, agricultural development, and community welfare.
